Bhakti Earth Yoga is a passion project for yoga enthusiast Alia Fern, LPC-I, MCOUN, RYT-200. Alia earned her trail name, Windsong, and hiking stripes by completing a thru-hike of the 2,660-mile Pacific Crest Trail in 2014 from Mexico to Canada. Upon returning and finding herself among the depressed and downhearted from the influence of modern day living, Alia embarked on her journey of physical, mental, and emotional healing. She dove into the yoga community of Yakima, WA headfirst, and found the peace her soul was yearning for. Following this path, she was certified to teach yoga upon completion of a 230-hr training at Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC in December 2015.
Alia relocated to Prineville, OR in early 2016. Bhakti Earth Yoga was soon born from the inspiration to share a love of the outdoors, the beautiful vistas of the Ochoco Mountains, and the incredible healing practice of yoga. The outdoor practice of yoga offers ample opportunity to find peace, grounding, centering and connection with the elements, and yourself among them. Therapeutic yoga, studio classes and outdoor yoga hiking programs are the core of Bhakti Earth Yoga and private sessions are available upon request. Alia has instructed over 1,000 hours of yoga classes and lessons.
- What's in a Name? -
"Bhakti" is the yogic practice of love and devotion to Source and Creator, the spirit that thrives in all of us. Bhakti yoga cultivates love, compassion, and open-hearted living through yoga asana (postures/poses), meditation, breathing practices, vocalizing and developing a loving relationship with the Self.
Uniting Bhakti with the element of Earth is meant to inspire respect for the unspeakable beauty of Creation all around us, of which we are each an inextricable, irreplaceable part. Reflecting on the diverse splendor of nature, we find ourselves intimately tied to our environment and in constant exchange with her through both matter and energy. The beauty that surrounds us is found within us in every moment and more so with every breath.
Bhakti Earth Yoga is based in vinyasa style yoga from the Ashtanga lineage of Sri Krishnamacharya, yin, and restorative practices.
It loves long pose holds in the woods, sunset, sunrise and starlight practices, 360-degree views and breathing in ALL the air.
